Antenatal, postnatal and Infant welfare (ANC/IWC)

This service has a new building which was refurbished by the Honorable Member of Parliament Mme.EtombiIkomeGlagys and the handing over of the building was done on the 9th of May 2018 under the distinguished patronage of the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako division. Immediately after this handing over, the activities in this center has tripled due to the sensitization of the community on the necessity of proper follow up of pregnancy to early detect and manage complications, free of charge immunization of children 0 to 11 months who receives the following package: Vaccination against Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Poliomyelitis, Haemophilus influenza, Hepatitis B, Measles and Yellow fever; Vitamin A supplementation and deworming; nutritional follow up of infants and activities geared towards the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (PMTCT).

This is a one-stop-shop where consultations, routine lab investigations, free malaria prophylaxis with Sulfadoxinepyrimetamine to pregnant women and free distribution of antiretroviral within the context of PMTCT are all carried out in this unit. Not forgetting the free distribution to pregnant women of Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLINs). This is to fight against the vector which is the female anopheles mosquito.
